A private pool can make the whole trip. It can also disappoint if you don't check a few things first. Run through these five before you confirm.
1. Pool size vs. group size
A pretty plunge pool photographs well but won't serve 30 people on a hot afternoon. Ask about actual dimensions and depth, and picture your real crowd in it — not the empty photo.
2. Is it private or shared?
"Pool villa" doesn't always mean the pool is yours alone. Confirm it's exclusive to your booking, not shared with neighbours or other units. Every pool at the villas we list is private to your group.
3. Safety, especially for kids
If children are coming, this is non-negotiable. Check the shallow-end depth, whether the area can be supervised easily, and any fencing or gating. Under our house rules, children must be supervised around water at all times.
4. Upkeep and cleanliness
A pool is only a feature if it's well maintained. Ask when it was last serviced and whether cleaning is handled between guests. Recent, honest photos tell you a lot.
5. Rules and hours
Many villas sit in residential areas, so late-night pool noise has limits. Confirm any quiet hours so your evening plans don't clash with the neighbours — our standard quiet window runs 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
Bottom line
Verify size, privacy, safety, upkeep and rules, and a pool villa delivers exactly what you hoped. Skip the checks and you're gambling on the one feature you booked for. Not sure about a specific villa? Ask us — we'll give you the honest details.
